Dental Work After Trauma

Although plans differ, most dental insurance covers routine dental care needed as a result of normal wear and maintenance. Covered services may include non-urgent X-rays, exams, and cleanings in addition to fillings and crowns. In limited circumstances, dental insurance may also provide partial coverage for braces or implants.

Medical insurance may provide coverage for dental work connected to an accident or injury or a medical condition that affects your mouth. Importantly, for dental work to be covered by medical insurance, the treatment needs to be deemed medically necessary and fall under the medical plan’s rules for coverage.

To establish the medical necessity and connection to trauma event, it is critical that you seek help as quickly as possible after it occurs! We are one of the only prosthodontic clinics in the Northeast that have successfully leveraged medical insurance for our patients.
